Soul Toxins, Garbage in Garbage Out

Garbage in Garbage out, the computer programmer's say. The computer doesn't have a human brain so if incorrect data goes into a computer, the computer doesn't know it's incorrect, and goes to work processing it.

Humans are amazingly complex and have the ability to cleanse negative thoughts and emotions in the soul where our mind, will and emotions are. Data comes into our soul all our lives, but our amazing brain knows or can learn when garbage goes in, realize it, and choose to get rid of the garbage - or not. Sometimes we don't know something does not nourish our soul. If we learn it's a negative thought or emotion , we can then decide if we want to put the garbage out to expel the toxin. Somewhat like reprogramming. I used to eat so much junk food, but now I'm eating much more healthy foods. I want my body to be healthy and lately I've been thinking a lot about my soul being healthy and giving my soul a prayerfully deep look to see if there are any soul toxins in there to poison and pollute my life. Soul toxins can contaminate my today's, my tomorrow's and even the lives of those I love. Soul toxin's can even be passed from one generation to another.

You might be asking, what is a soul toxin?

Soul toxin's are the effect of harmful emotions our brain did not expel. The garbage came in, but did not go out. Sometimes people know it's garbage, but hold onto it like un-forgiveness or lust. Sometimes people just don't recognize the toxin as harmful. Still others just don't know how to get rid of the toxins.

There are emotions that nourish our soul. Actually, we need them because we were designed to need them. Emotions like joy and peace. Who doesn't want those? When a person's soul is weighed down with soul toxin's, they are not free to thrive. The negative soul toxins inhibit the good and healthy emotions. The soul toxins can even flow over onto other people. Imagine someone who is bitter because life did not give them what they think they deserved. That bitterness harms other people.

Hebrews 12:15 says, See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled. NAS

Today, people are increasingly more health conscious. Correcting our diet and fortifying it with antioxidents for future health, pampering our digestion, drinking water, and taking supplements are priorities, but how much attention do we give to the garbage in our soul?

No one will deny eating a diet of toxins is dangerous, but many people choose to hold onto dangerous toxic emotions even thought they know the stress causes health issues. It's often easier to ignore the painful, and festering emotion than trash it. Often, we just don't want to go there. But the result of a deep soul cleansing is wonderful and so freeing.

We have a thought, it is tied to an emotion and we decide to believe something from that emotion. People's actions come from their beliefs. Your behaviors are a reflection of what you believe. For instance, if you think Emily does not like you, you feel the pain of rejection. As a result, you avoid Emily and behave as though you don't care or even try to turn others away from her in retaliation.

The Bible is a wonderful guidebook for health and happiness. It contains ancient beauty secrets for cleansing our soul.

Ancient Beauty Secret #1

Step One.

Realization is the first step. You cannot cleanse what you don't see or admit. Believers can ask God to show them any soul toxins they may not be aware of. In Psalm 139:23 & 24, Search me, O God, and know my heart, Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. NASB

Step 2.

The next step is to face yourself. You can ask God to show you any toxins you are not aware of. Psalm 51:6, Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. NASB Being truthful with yourself is so important. Psalm 51:3, For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. NASB

Step 3. Confession

Humble yourself and talk to God confessing your sins. He knows already but this is an important step in restoring your relationship. I John 1:9, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. NASB

Step 3. Repentance. Being sorry for sinning is important but being truly sorry that you sinned against God is vital. Psalm 51:2, Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. NASB Psalm 51:4 Against You, You only, I have sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak and blameless when You judge. NASB. Many people are just sorry that they got caught, not that they sinned against God. God is loving, and Holy; humbling ourselves before Him is such an important step. John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He sent His only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. NASB There is no excuse for holding toxic emotions. Our Lord loved you so much He died so you can be free. Another important component of repentance is doing an about face and changing your life. IF you are truly broken before the Lord, it's easy to do an about face. You can ask Him to help you.

Step 4. Be Accountable. If there is a sin you struggle with, sharing this with a very trusted friend who will be your accountability partner reinforces your choice to be toxin free.

Step 5. Speak the Word and Thank God for what He has done. I Thessalonians 5:18, Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. NASB Colossians 3:17, Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. NASB
